Subaru is preparing to unveil two new STI-branded concept cars — one a fully electric model and the other a five-door hatchback — at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
The two concept cars are named Performance-E and Performance-B, marking their world premiere at the event. The Performance-E is a fully electric vehicle that Subaru describes as “the first step of a new generation,” with strong potential to evolve into a production model. Subaru says the concept combines “striking body proportions with aerodynamic efficiency and everyday practicality.”
From the teaser images, the car features sharp body lines, distinctive LED headlights, large bumper intakes, and a sleek hatchback silhouette. Subaru confirms it will offer a “spacious, driver-friendly interior” along with “a range of advanced technologies.”
The second model, the Performance-B STI concept, retains an internal combustion engine. Subaru says it broadens the brand’s performance lineup. First teased in June, this model now appears in more detail — featuring headlights and a vented hood similar to the current WRX sedan, but with a redesigned body kit including wide fenders and a new grille. The highlight is its five-door hatchback design with a large rear spoiler. Under the hood lies a boxer engine paired with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
While production plans have not been confirmed, this concept could potentially serve as a rival to the Toyota GR Corolla in both spirit and layout.
