BMW has announced the expansion of its X3 lineup with the introduction of a new variant, the BMW X3 40d xDrive, positioned just below the top-tier M50 xDrive. The new diesel-powered model will launch in Australia in the third quarter of this year, while BMW has confirmed that the X3 40d xDrive will also be available in various other international markets.
The highlight of the BMW X3 40d xDrive is its latest-generation B57 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine, paired with a mild-hybrid system. This powertrain delivers an impressive 303 horsepower and 670 Nm of torque. The electric motor is integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, improving both responsiveness and overall efficiency. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 245 km/h, with a combined fuel consumption of 14.9 km/l.
Inside, the fourth-generation BMW X3 features a modern curved display that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system runs on BMW Operating System 9, which is based on the Android platform.
