The Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine (2TR-FE), featuring DOHC, 16 valves, and Dual VVT-i. It has a displacement of 2,694 cc, with a bore and stroke of 95 x 95 mm. The engine produces a maximum output of 166 hp at 5,200 rpm and peak torque of 245 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
Key updates and improvements:
-
Complies with EURO 6 emissions standards
-
Engine weight is approximately 162.8 kg (up from 160.4 kg in the EURO 5 version)
-
Piston rings are now coated with Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) to reduce friction against the cylinder walls
-
Engine oil specification has been changed from 10W-30 to 0W-20 to minimize internal friction
-
Revised balance shaft system for smoother engine operation
-
Enhanced exhaust valve seat durability, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 650°C
-
ECU recalibrated to better suit the 4WD system
Air conditioning system improvements:
The air conditioning system has also been upgraded. Compared to the Fortuner MY2008, which uses the same 2TR-FE engine, the Land Cruiser FJ features a 7% increase in evaporator core size. The fin spacing within the evaporator has been reduced to 3 mm (from 3.55 mm), improving cooling efficiency. Refrigerant capacity has been increased to 780 g (±30), up from 750 g (±30), and a new-generation 10SRE11 compressor replaces the previous 10SRE18 unit.
