The all-new MG4 has been spotted at dealerships across China. This latest version represents a major overhaul of the previous MG4, with significant updates to exterior design, interior technology, and the powertrain. A full market debut is expected in early September.
Design updates include a more rounded front-end, a closed-off grille, teardrop-shaped LED headlights, and an illuminated MG logo. The lower grille adopts a trapezoidal shape, flanked by C-shaped air deflectors and a sportier bumper design. At the rear, the MG4 features arrow-style taillights and a blacked-out lower bumper, blending seamlessly into the body. It rides on 17-inch petal-style alloy wheels.
The new MG4 features rear-wheel drive with a single 120 kW (163 hp) motor paired with a 70 kWh battery. This marks the first time MG has introduced semi-solid-state battery technology. Two range options are available—437 km and 537 km—based on the CLTC standard. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes around 20 minutes. The vehicle also features CTB (Cell-to-Body) battery integration and uses a front MacPherson strut and rear torsion beam suspension setup.
Inside, the dashboard has been completely redesigned, featuring an intelligent infotainment system co-developed with Oppo and newly designed seats for enhanced passenger comfort. A large 15.6-inch floating central display replaces most of the traditional physical controls, leaving only five core function buttons below the screen. The air vents are now hidden within the dashboard to maintain a minimalist look.
The infotainment system is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, supporting cross-platform connectivity, smartphone-based vehicle control, and gesture-based navigation. Additional smart features include AI-powered interactions, app mirroring, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 50-watt wireless charging pad with built-in cooling is integrated into the center console.
Two new Morandi-inspired interior color options are offered: Rose Purple and Mountain Blue. The redesigned front seats are ergonomically optimized, featuring 503 mm-long seat cushions with built-in ventilation and heating. The driver's footwell has a 46.4-degree flat pedal angle to reduce fatigue on longer drives. The seatbacks are now constructed in a single-piece design for improved support.
In the rear cabin, seat cushions have been extended to 522 mm, and the backrests are reclined at a 27-degree angle for added comfort. The rear floor is completely flat to increase legroom, and the rear seats fold in a 60:40 split for flexible cargo storage. Higher trim levels also come equipped with a panoramic sunroof with an integrated sunshade.
