Australia will be the first global market where Mitsubishi plans to launch its new electric vehicle in the second half of 2026. The company has partnered with Foxtron, the automotive division of Taiwan's Foxconn, to manufacture the new model, which it hopes will be able to compete with Chinese brands in the increasingly competitive EV space. While the model name has yet to be officially confirmed, it is expected that the new EV will share the same platform as the Foxtron Model B, a compact SUV set to compete against the likes of the BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, Kia EV3, and other models in the same segment.
Shaun Westcott, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia, stated that this new electric vehicle will be a key driver for the company’s "Momentum 2030" strategy, which aims to launch a total of eight new or refreshed models by the year 2030. Australia will be the first market to receive the Foxtron-built electric vehicle under the Mitsubishi brand.
Foxtron Model B Dimensions:
-
Length: 4,320 mm
-
Width: 1,865 mm

The Model B is equipped with a 60kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering an estimated driving range of around 500 kilometers under the NEDC standard. Its mechanically related sibling, the mid-size Model C SUV, produces 227 horsepower in rear-wheel-drive form and 456 horsepower in all-wheel-drive form—figures that may offer insight into the potential performance of the Model B.
