Nissan has unveiled the All-New Nissan MICRA, now in its sixth generation, making a comeback as a fully electric vehicle. This new model shares its platform with the Renault 5 E-Tech.
The new Micra was designed at Nissan Design Europe in London, with a strong focus on European customers. A highlight of the design is the protruding circular headlights and taillights, which come with body-colored trim pieces. Additionally, the front LED lights feature a special “winking” animation that activates when the vehicle is locked or unlocked. Glossy black cladding on the front and rear bumpers, side panels, and wheel arches draws inspiration from SUVs. All trim levels of the new Micra come with 18-inch wheels, each featuring different design patterns. The exterior color palette includes 14 different combinations, thanks to two-tone options that pair a black or gray roof with various body colors.
Inside, the cabin of the new Micra is nearly identical to the Renault 5 E-Tech, featuring dual 10.1-inch screens and a similar dashboard layout. The main differences are the Nissan badging, brand-specific upholstery, and small design details such as the molded outline of Mount Fuji between the front seats. The boot offers 326 liters of cargo space.
The new Micra is built on the AmpR Small platform (CMF-BEV) and is available in two variants:
-
The entry-level model is equipped with a 121 hp (90 kW / 122 PS) electric motor and a 40 kWh battery, providing up to 308 km (191 miles) of WLTP-rated range.
-
The higher-performance version features a 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) motor and a larger 52 kWh battery, offering up to 408 km (254 miles) of range under the same standard.
The larger battery variant supports DC fast charging at up to 100 kW, enabling a 15% to 80% charge in just 30 minutes. Both versions come with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, a standard heat pump, and battery heating and cooling systems. According to Nissan, the new Micra delivers “best-in-class” ride and handling, thanks to its low center of gravity, optimized weight (1,400–1,524 kg / 3,087–3,360 lbs), responsive steering, and a multi-link rear suspension. Notably, Renault made similar claims with the R5 E-Tech at its 2024 debut.
Dimensions of the All-New Nissan MICRA EV:
-
Length: 3,922 mm
-
Width: 1,808 mm
-
Height: 1,498 mm
-
Wheelbase: 2,540 mm
The All-New Nissan MICRA EV is scheduled to go on sale in Europe in late 2025. Pricing will be announced closer to launch but is expected to be higher than the Renault 5 E-Tech’s €25,000 starting price due to the Micra’s slightly more premium market positioning. Nissan also plans to introduce a fully electric Nissan Juke and a new crossover-style Nissan Leaf in the near future.
