The automotive media outlet from the United States, Carscoops, has revealed spy shots of the new generation Mazda CX-5, which is currently undergoing testing in Los Angeles and Germany. These images indicate that Mazda is preparing to launch
the next-generation CX-5 after nearly 9 years of the current model being on the market. Despite being camouflaged, the test vehicle appears to be production-ready. The shape and greenhouse design remain similar to the
previous model, but with new design elements that make it stand out.
At the front, the headlights are smaller and curve into the grille, resembling the design of the Mercedes-Benz EQC. The bumper has a smooth, sculpted shape, with only a single cooling intake. Along the side of the
vehicle, the wheel arches have sharp angles similar to the CX-50, but with simpler plastic cladding, which may match the body color in the production version. At the rear, the design becomes more interesting with new
aggressive taillights, sharp LED graphics inspired by the Mazda CX-60, 70, 80, and 90 series. The rear features a large tailgate, additional plastic cladding on the rear bumper, and dual exhaust pipes.
The new generation CX-5 will come with a self-charging hybrid powertrain developed by Mazda, which differs from the Toyota-sourced hybrid found in the CX-50. Additionally, the CX-5 will be equipped with the
Skyactiv-Z powertrain, slated to debut in 2027. Although details are still scarce, Mazda has stated that the Skyactiv-Z will be a significant step forward in terms of engine efficiency and performance.
