Volkswagen is preparing to revise the lineup of the Volkswagen Amarok for the 2026 model year in the Australian market, shifting to an almost entirely V6-powered range, with only one variant retaining a four-cylinder engine.
According to a report by CarExpert, the entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel TDI405 Core and the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel TDI500 variants have been discontinued. As a result, the 2026 Amarok dual-cab 4×4 lineup will primarily be powered by the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine, badged TDI600. Meanwhile, the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, designated TSI452, will remain available in only a single variant. A new flagship W600 is also scheduled to debut in the third quarter of 2026.
The TSI452 petrol engine will now be offered exclusively in the Style trim, instead of the previous range-topping Aventura grade. With the discontinuation of the Core and Life variants, Style will become the new entry-level Amarok model.
The Style TSI452 can also be optionally equipped with 20-inch “Bendigo” alloy wheels, priced at AUD 1,290 (approximately THB 30,000).
Pricing and full specifications for the MY2026 Amarok lineup will be announced closer to launch. Volkswagen says the updated range will feature clearer differentiation between grades and simplified option packages.
Another highlight for 2026 is the limited-edition Dark Label variant, which will be offered in Australia in just 200 units, all powered by the 3.0-liter TDI600 turbo-diesel V6.
Key features of the Dark Label edition include:
-
20-inch matte black Bendigo alloy wheels
-
IQ.Light Matrix LED headlights with black surrounds
-
Darkened taillights
-
Black powder-coated sports bar
-
Matte black roof rails and B-pillar trim
-
Black front skid plate, side steps, rear bumper, door handles, mirrors, and tonneau cover
-
Black X-design front bumper
-
Spray-in tub liner
-
Special decal package
The new flagship Volkswagen Amarok W600, developed by Walkinshaw Automotive, will sit at the top of the Amarok range. While its peak output remains identical to other Amarok V6 models, it receives additional performance-oriented upgrades, including Koni frequency-selective dampers and 20-inch forged alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires.
All Amarok models sold in Australia feature a dual-cab body style, a permanent all-wheel drive system, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The MY2026 lineup consists of:
-
Style TSI452
-
Style TDI600
-
Style TDI600 Cab/Chassis
-
PanAmericana TDI600
-
Aventura TDI600
-
Dark Label TDI600
-
W600 TDI600
