SAIC Motor–CP Co., Ltd. and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the manufacturer and distributor of MG vehicles in Thailand, have highlighted the success of the NEW MG S5 EV, an e-SUV that continues to receive strong market response in Thailand. The model recently won the THAILAND EV OF THE YEAR 2025 award and has recorded more than 40,000 units in cumulative global sales, reinforcing its status as one of the brand’s key electric models.
MG is further strengthening the positioning of the NEW MG S5 EV beyond its core highlights of “fun to drive, long driving range, fast charging, comfortable cabin, and LIFETIME WARRANTY.” The model is now being presented as an electric vehicle that better meets the needs of modern consumers, positioned as a family-oriented e-SUV capable of delivering Drive Solutions for occupants in every seat. This direction aligns with MG’s GLOCAL strategy, which integrates global standards with the specific needs of local markets.
The NEW MG S5 EV made its debut in Thailand in the first quarter of 2025 as a global model competing in the B-SUV segment under the concept “Make Anywhere Possible.” Key highlights include its development on the NEBULA PURE ELECTRIC PLATFORM, a dedicated architecture designed specifically for electric vehicles. The platform supports rear-wheel drive, features a 50:50 weight distribution, and positions the battery pack to lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity, enhancing stability and road holding.
The suspension system features an independent 5-Link setup, specially tuned to deliver both ride comfort and precise handling. Inside, the cabin emphasizes spaciousness and practicality, highlighted by a 15.6-inch infotainment display, ventilated front seats, and rear air-conditioning vents, providing greater comfort for family travel.
MG has also established strong recognition for the NEW MG S5 EV PLUS as a “mass-market EV” through the concept of “Bigger – Cooler – Longer – More.” This reflects the model’s spacious interior, comfort-focused equipment, and practical driving range. The vehicle is equipped with a globally recognized battery developed in collaboration with CATL, while customers are offered long-term peace of mind through EV LIFETIME WARRANTY coverage.
In terms of safety, the NEW MG S5 EV has achieved 5-star safety ratings from three major international testing organizations: Euro NCAP, ASEAN NCAP, and ANCAP, further confirming its status as a globally recognized model.
In Thailand, the vehicle has also secured the THAILAND EV OF THE YEAR 2025 award and achieved more than 5,500 units in cumulative sales, reflecting strong and consistent demand. In particular, the D+ variant has seen high demand, prompting MG to increase production capacity and bring the variant back to the market.
Xu Yin, Managing Director of MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Deputy Managing Director of SAIC Motor–CP Co., Ltd., stated that the success of the NEW MG S5 EV is the result of continuous product development, effective marketing communication, and comprehensive after-sales services, all aimed at making the vehicle an integral part of consumers’ long-term lifestyle and mobility needs.
Under the GLOCAL strategy, which guides MG’s business operations for this decade, the company plans to further develop and refine its products to better align with the context of local markets. In 2026, the NEW MG S5 EV will be presented with a refreshed perspective, encouraging Thai consumers to view the vehicle not merely as transportation, but as a solution that enhances everyday living across different lifestyles.
MG is also focusing on communicating the user benefits and customer experiences offered by the model, including its suitability for multi-generation families, easy accessibility for elderly passengers, comfortable and safe seating for children, and practicality for young entrepreneurial families who require a vehicle capable of both passenger transport and cargo carrying.
Alongside this, MG continues to build long-term customer confidence through its EV LIFETIME WARRANTY program and a nationwide service network, with the goal of establishing the NEW MG S5 EV as a true “mass-market EV” in Thailand.
