2026 Honda Prelude Officially Debuts – Two-Motor Hybrid Electric System with High-Performance Civic Type R Chassis

The 2026 Honda Prelude comes equipped with the same two-motor hybrid system as the Civic Hybrid, combining two electric motors with a 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle direct injection inline-four gasoline engine. The system delivers a total output of 200 hp and 315 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a CVT paired with Honda’s S+ Shift system, which simulates 8-speed gear changes with rev-matching in S+ mode.

Exterior Design
The Prelude features a sleek yet muscular profile with a low hood, wide stance, “double-bubble” roof, and flared fenders over 19-inch wheels. Unique details include a black chrome grille louver, blue accents on the front and rear bumpers, and blue Brembo brake calipers. Flush door handles, an antenna integrated into the rear glass, and laser-brazed roofline technology create a seamless look.

Interior
The driver-focused cabin offers two color schemes – two-tone blue/white or black – both with blue contrast stitching. The center console and lower dash are wrapped in synthetic leather with an embroidered Prelude logo. A thick-rimmed flat-bottom steering wheel features blue stitching, a 12 o’clock position marker, and aluminum paddle shifters. Bucket-style seats with bolstering are designed for both support and comfort. The 2+2 seating layout includes a liftback hatch and 60/40 split-folding rear seats for flexible cargo space.

Safety & Performance
The Prelude comes standard with the Honda Sensing suite, the latest ACE body structure, full airbag coverage including knee and rear side airbags, and a Post-Collision Braking system. It’s also the first to feature the updated Honda Agile Handling Assist, which integrates powertrain and braking control based on steering inputs. Brakes are shared with the Civic Type R, with lightweight 13.8-inch two-piece front rotors and Brembo monobloc 4-piston aluminum calipers in exclusive Prelude blue, paired with 12.0-inch rear rotors.
