Honda Motorcycles has released a teaser video showcasing its new V3 supercharged engine undergoing tests on a dynamometer. First introduced at the 2024 EICMA show in Italy, this engine is set to become the core power unit for several upcoming Honda motorcycle models.

In the teaser, a team of Honda engineers can be seen discussing and working on the prototype motorcycle, though the bike itself remains mostly hidden. What stands out is the dyno readout, revealing a redline of up to 17,000 rpm.
The new V3 engine’s supercharger is electrically driven, allowing independent control of intake air compression regardless of engine speed. This ensures instantaneous throttle response and power delivery even at low rpm.
Another advantage of the electric supercharger is the freedom of component placement in a motorcycle’s limited space, enabling efficient mass centralization and eliminating the need for an intercooler. The V3 is a 75-degree liquid-cooled engine, and Honda intends to further develop it for larger displacements in the future.
The teaser video also hints that the prototype using this engine is a naked sport bike, suggesting Honda could showcase it as a fully functional prototype later this year.
