The GWM Haval H7 is positioned as a mid-size SUV with a more rugged design than the Haval H6 and H6 GT, but not as hardcore as the body-on-frame Tank 300. In Australia, it is offered in only a single trim level.

Despite its tough appearance, the Haval H7 is built on the same unibody LEMON platform as the H6 and H6 GT, in contrast to the Tank 300 which uses a ladder-frame structure. The Haval H7 comes with front-wheel drive only and is powered by a hybrid drivetrain. There is no spare wheel – just a tyre repair kit.

The Haval H7 is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol hybrid engine, producing:
