At the launch of the GLC with EQ Technology, an all-electric mid-size SUV, Mercedes-Benz revealed a short teaser image of the upcoming new C-Class EV. Following the naming convention of the brand’s latest electric vehicles, this model will be called the C-Class with EQ Technology.
From the teaser, the C-Class EQ will feature a rounded body shape in the style of a traditional sedan, in contrast to the earlier EQE and EQS models, which had their A- and D-pillars pushed further toward the edges of the car. The C-Class EQ’s smooth curves contrast sharply with its tall and upright front grille, which will be offered as an illuminated ‘Iconic Grille’ — lighting up both the frame around the three-pointed star logo and the grille slats. Unlike the GLC EQ, which has three slats, the C-Class EQ will have four, along with Mercedes-Benz’s signature three-pointed star headlight graphic.
On the side, one notable and unusual design detail is the separate window located behind the rear doors — a feature usually reserved for Maybach, Pullman, or China-exclusive long-wheelbase models.
The C-Class EQ will use the new MB.EA electric vehicle platform, first introduced with the GLC EQ, and shares no major components with the internal combustion engine versions of the C-Class or GLC. While battery capacities and motor outputs haven’t been officially announced, Mercedes-Benz says the longest-range variant will be capable of up to 800 km per charge.
Inside, it’s expected that the top-spec C-Class EQ will feature the 39.1-inch ‘Hyperscreen’ spanning the full width of the dashboard, while lower-spec variants will come with a series of smaller, separate displays instead.
