The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance was spied testing completely undisguised in the Swiss Alps.
Since this test vehicle has no camouflage and a striking body color — which appears orange in the clips but could be Ultra Red — it’s possible that it was being filmed for promotional material. From the video, a more aggressive front bumper, a sportier rear bumper with a ducktail-style black spoiler, and new wheels — expected to measure 21 inches — can be seen.
The updates could mirror those made to the Model 3 Performance, such as upgraded brakes, the addition of adaptive suspension, ventilated front sports seats, metal pedals, and carbon-fiber trim.
However, Chinese-built versions had their peak power reduced by 15 kW to 343 kW (466 PS) and their WLTP electric driving range decreased from 547 km to 528 km. Nevertheless, the Model 3 Performance’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time improved by 0.2 seconds, down to just 3.1 seconds. The current Model Y uses a 79 kWh battery in the Long Range variant, enabling a WLTP range of 551 km — an 18 km improvement over the previous model’s 511 km.
The facelifted Model Y has received significant exterior updates at the front and rear, along with a refreshed interior featuring an 8-inch rear passenger screen, ambient lighting, and gear selection via the screen. Engineering changes include retuned suspension for greater comfort, retuned steering for better responsiveness, and redesigned body castings claimed to reduce the number of parts and road noise.
The Model Y Performance isn’t the only new version in Tesla’s plans, as the company is also expected to introduce a new seven-seat Model Y variant to the lineup.
